Geely Galaxy begins pre-sales of large hybrid SUV M9, starting at $27,050

- The Geely Galaxy M9 is a 5.2-meter-long six-seat SUV with a pre-sales starting price that is only half that of Li Auto’s Li L9.
- The M9 is one of several new models launched by Geely Galaxy over the past year with aggressive pricing.

Geely Galaxy began pre-sales of its hybrid SUV (sport utility vehicle) M9 today, making it one of the most affordable large SUVs on the Chinese market.
The six-seat SUV, measuring 5.2 meters in length, has a pre-sales starting price of RMB 193,800 ($27,050), which is half the price of Li Auto’s (NASDAQ: LI) Li L9 extended-range electric vehicle (EREV) at RMB 409,800, despite being comparable in size.
As is the practice in China’s automotive market, the official launch price of a new model is typically lower than the pre-sales price, meaning the Geely Galaxy M9’s official price could be around or below RMB 190,000.
The model, which made its global debut on May 22 in Milan, Italy, is built on Geely’s Geely Electric Architecture (GEA) platform and features the next-generation Leishen EM super hybrid system.
The large SUV measures 5,205 mm in length, 1,999 mm in width, and 1,800 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 3,030 mm.
For comparison, the Li L9, which also has six seats, measures 5,218 mm in length, 1,998 mm in width, and 1,800 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 3,015 mm.
Specifically, the Geely Galaxy M9 offers six variants in its pre-sales, with starting prices of RMB 193,800, RMB 202,800, RMB 208,800, RMB 217,800, RMB 236,800, and RMB 258,800.
The vehicle offers battery pack options of 18.4 kWh and 41.46 kWh, with CLTC battery range options of 100 km and 230 km, and WLTC range of 85 km or 185 km.
When fully fueled and charged, the M9 achieves a combined range of up to 1,500 kilometers, with Geely Galaxy claiming this is more fuel-efficient than traditional sedans.
It is available in both two-wheel drive and four-wheel drive versions, with the most powerful variant delivering a peak power output of 640 kW (859 horsepower) and peak torque of 1,165 Nm, enabling the vehicle to accelerate from 0 to 100 kilometers per hour in 4.5 seconds.
The model will be equipped with the G-Pilot H5 advanced driving assistance system, which is the mid-range option within Geely’s G-Pilot solution lineup.
Geely unveiled G-Pilot on March 3, comprising five smart driving solutions: G-Pilot H1, G-Pilot H3, G-Pilot H5, G-Pilot H7, and G-Pilot H9, similar to BYD’s God’s Eye smart driving system.
The G-Pilot H5’s hardware system includes 11 cameras, three millimeter-wave radars, and one lidar, enabling full-scenario door-to-door NOA (Navigation on Autopilot) without the need for high-definition maps.
The M9’s cockpit is equipped with Agent OS, which Geely Galaxy claims is the industry’s first AI-driven automotive cockpit.
This model is one of several aggressively priced new models launched by Geely Galaxy over the past year, a strategy that has helped it achieve rapid sales growth.
Earlier this month, the Geely Galaxy A7 hybrid sedan, with a length of 4,918 mm, was officially launched, with a starting price of just RMB 89,800.
Geely Galaxy sold 643,451 vehicles in the first seven months of this year, representing a year-on-year increase of 253.77 percent, according to data compiled by CnEVPost.
The strong performance of the brand has driven Geely’s impressive results.
From January to July, Geely sold 1,646,897 vehicles, including models from the Geely, Geely Galaxy, Zeekr, and Lynk & Co brands, representing a year-on-year increase of 48.84 percent.
